Bell’s Palsy

Bell’s palsy is sudden weakness or paralysis on one side of the face. One morning you wake up and can’t close your eye, smile evenly, or hold liquid in your mouth. It’s caused by inflammation of the facial nerve and, although alarming, most cases recover well, especially with early intervention. We use facial neuromuscular re-education exercises, electrical stimulation, and acupuncture to support the recovery.

Common causes of Bell’s Palsy

  • Brain tumour
  • Stroke
  • Myasthenia gravis
  • Lyme disease
