Frozen Shoulder

Frozen shoulder happens when the capsule around your shoulder joint thickens and tightens, slowly stealing your range of motion. You may not be able to reach behind your back, lift your arm overhead, or sleep on that side. It often comes on without an obvious injury. We use a combination of manual therapy, mobilization, and progressive exercise to restore movement.

What Frozen Shoulder feels like

  • Dull or aching pain
  • Stiffness
  • Decreased motion of the shoulder
  • Pain typically worsens at night and when trying to sleep on the affected shoulder

Common causes of Frozen Shoulder

  • Most people with frozen shoulder have suffered from immobility as a result of a recent injury or fracture
  • Shoulder surgery
  • Cervical disc disease of the neck
  • Diabetes
  • High cholesterol and/or heart disease
  • Open heart surgery
  • Thyroid problems
